Teacher Training 500 Hours                        

COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Teacher Training curriculum is designed to prepare Cosmetologists/Hairstylists to become licensed teachers.  Instruction in public speaking, state board examination, teaching methods, lesson planning and grading is emphasized.  The New Jersey State Board of Cosmetology & Hairstyling requires an examination to be taken to qualify for licensing.


COURSE GOALS:

1.     Students will receive training in both theory and practical subjects and gain knowledge 
   in all phases of Cosmetology/Hairstyling, Teaching Methods and related subjects.

2.     To prepare students to successfully pass the New Jersey State Board Examinations.

3.     To prepare students to work in a privet beauty school and related occupations.

4.     To develop employer/employee relationships and effective communication skills.

 

STUDENT CLASSIFICATION:

Student Teacher 1-500 hours

5.     Written & Practical evaluations

 

EVALUATION PROCEDURES:

1.     Testing in both theory, practical, and clinic areas

2.     Examination after each unit of the course

3.     Monthly Theory and Practical Progress Reports

4.     Final examination

 

REQUIRED LEVEL OF ACHIEVEMENT:

All students are required to maintain at least a 75% grade point average in both theory, practical, and clinic subjects in order to be eligible to receive a Diploma of Completion.  Students are required to wear a school uniform and dress professionally.  Please refer to the Satisfactory Progress Policy for additional requirements.
